Eschewing the obvious coulrophobia element in favour of pure slapstick, Killer Klowns from Outer Space skirts dangerously close to the line between dreadful and tongue-in-cheek cult material, and is most certainly a one-gag pony. However, as affectionate homage to the sci-fi B-movies of the 50s, the film is smile-inducing in its absurdity, while the special effects are more than enough to entertain; these alien clowns look incredible even now.
As is customary for Arrow, the package here is very good; the transfer is excellent, presenting the costumes in all their garish glory, while the extras on board include some excellent interviews that take a broad look at the production. Well worth a purchase.
